TWO city hotels have become the first to join a major United States hotel group to boost their image abroad. Edinburgh House Hotel on Pilrig Street and Blue Rainbow Aparthotel on Queen Street have signed up with Magnuson Hotels to “go global”.

Recent figures showed that occupancy rates in hotels across Scotland had slumped to 57 per cent this year, while overall the UK has declined from 71 per cent in 2007 to just 57.7 per cent.
