Magnuson Hotels Expedia bookings up 98% YTD
April 5, 2011
Magnuson Hotels, the world’s largest independent hotel group, announced today a 98 percent increase in Expedia hotel reservations year-to-date 2011 for nearly 2,000 hotels in North America and Europe.
While U.S. hotel occupancy continues to stagnate at nearly 10 percent below the 50-year average of 64 percent, Magnuson also reports a 16% average Expedia rate increase YTD.
Magnuson attributes increases in booking volumes to its new global agreement which provides expanded visibility connecting Magnuson’s global hotel inventory to more than 50 million visitors who shop for travel each month on over 90 Expedia®- and Hotels.com®-branded sites worldwide as well as through the Expedia Affiliate Network of more than 10,000 active affiliates.
“With rising gas prices and continued unemployment preventing recovery for many, this increase in room revenue could not have come at a better time for struggling hotel owners,” stated Thomas R. Magnuson, Magnuson Hotels CEO.
