Magnuson Hotels Partners With AgelessCare to Provide Affordable Nationwide Health Care to 8,000 Employees of Independent Hotel Owners
March 8, 2006
SPOKANE, Wash., March 8 /PRNewswire/ — Magnuson Hotels and AgelessCare, LLC have joined forces to bring affordable health care access, in the form of a Medical Savings Program, to more than 8,000 employees working at 450 independent hotel affiliates located throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Through affiliation with Magnuson Hotels, independent hotels, their employees and families can now access discounted pricing on health care needs through a nationwide medical savings network of more than 400,000 participating doctors, hospital, dental offices, pharmacies, vision care and long-term care providers.
In an industry that is dominated by part-time hourly employees, Magnuson Hotels is the first company to offer a nationwide health care option to independent hotel owners. Magnuson Hotels is the world’s largest provider of complete operating systems for independently-owned and operated and is the world’s largest provider of independent hotel services, ranking in the top 40 among the 300 largest worldwide hotel companies. The company is also the leading provider of global internet-based hotel reservations, property specific Web sites and operational services for independent hotel owners.
According to the American Hotel and Motel Association, turnover among non- management employees is about 50 percent. Estimates of average annual employee turnover range from 60 to 300 percent.
“Because everyone deserves health care, Magnuson Hotels is proud to join AgelessCare, LLC in opening up nationwide affordable health care access to over 8,000 hotel employees,” stated Thomas Magnuson, a principal of Magnuson Hotels.
“Finding and keeping good employees is a major factor in running a profitable hotel,” added Magnuson. “Statistics indicate it can cost up to $4,000 to replace a skilled hotel employee. As access to health care is a critical factor in keeping good employees, then making the AgelessCare Medical Savings Program available to Magnuson affiliate hotels provides a true advantage for retaining existing employees and recruiting new employees.”
According to Chris Lang, president and chief executive officer of AgelessCare, LLC, Medical Saving Programs, sometimes referred to as “health care discount plans”, provide access to discounted medical services that offer members savings on their out-of-pocket health care expenses.
“Participating members may save up to 40 percent through national networks of participating health care providers,” said Lang. “Since the program is not an insurance plan or policy, any person at any age can enroll and may include their entire family for one low monthly price. This is the first step employers can take to provide an affordable health benefit for their staff. We’re pleased to offer Magnuson Hotel affiliates reduced monthly pricing to make this investment even more affordable.”
To receive the special AgelessCare program pricing, Magnuson Hotel affiliates may enroll their employees online or by calling a toll-free sales support number. Magnuson Hotels affiliate members will be able to select from two programs-Platinum and Silver-that provide discounts on most health care needs and access to more than 400,000 participating doctors, hospital, dental offices, pharmacies, vision care, long-term care providers and more. The programs also include a 24-hour nurse hotline service providing health information and symptom assessment. Magnuson Hotel affiliates receive special pricing on AgelessCare’s programs starting as low as $12.95 per month for the entire family.
“Small business survival is getting harder and harder in today’s WalMart driven economy,” states Magnuson. “In order to be successful as an independent hotel against major corporate competitors, independent hotels need access to services, such as health care, typically found with larger organizations.”
“Since Medical Savings Programs cost only 10 to 20 percent of traditional health insurance (80 to 90 less), they are an affordable way for our independent hotel affiliates to provide a consistent health care benefit while increasing employee retention, performance and loyalty.”
