Magnuson Hotels reservation performance rises 15% year-to-date.
September 7, 2011
Magnuson Hotels, the world’s largest independent hotel group, announced today a 15 percent increase in hotel reservations year-to-date 2011 versus 2010 for nearly 2,000 hotels in North America and Europe. Chainwide average daily rate has hit the $80.00 mark.
While US hotel occupancy continues to stagnate at nearly 14 percent below the 50-year average of 64 percent, Magnuson also reports a 56% YTD booking increase over same period 2009.
Magnuson attributes continued increases in booking volumes and hotel rates to aggressive client pricing management and a constant expansion of its worldwide reservation system, with global distribution now including Expedia worldwide, 2,000 Internet channels and 650,000 worldwide GDS travel agents through Amadeus, Sabre, Worldspan, Apollo and Galileo.
Magnuson Hotels recently added a complete social marketing package providing high visibility in Facebook, Twitter and Tripadvisor, the world’s largest booking website.
“While high levels of uncertainty and decreased levels of spending are contributing to difficult market conditions for hotel owners, we advise hotel owners that expanded distribution with proactive pricing management can grow revenue no matter what the conditions are,” stated CEO Thomas R. Magnuson.
