North Carolina Best Western rebrands as Magnuson Hotel

DURHAM, NC – Magnuson Hotels, the world’s largest independent hotel group, announced today the complete rebranding of the Durham Skyland Inn Magnuson Hotel. Formerly a Best Western, the 30-room Durham Skyland Inn seeks to upgrade its local, regional and national market position with the Magnuson Hotels brand designation.

For 30 years this hotel has served the Durham-Chapel Hill vicinity, but with Durham’s economy and tourism market on a clear upswing and 9 new hotels opening in the next year, owners Bill and Rose Wisen saw the need to better serve an increasingly sophisticated level of visitor.

“Durham is a center for learning and achievement, surrounding Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central Universities; we’re proud to serve this vibrant community with the highest level of quality,” said owner Bill Wisen. “Being free from the high costs of corporate chains allows us to focus on hospitality and amenities that add real value for the customer, while the Magnuson Hotels brand allows us to profit from the benefits of a performance-based global central reservation system.”

Durham Skyland Inn is centrally located with easy access to Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central, Research Triangle Park, several golf courses, 13 historic sites, three art centers and 12 signature events with national recognition.

Durham Skyland Inn features comfortable rooms with all the amenities business and leisure travelers could need including a saltwater swimming pool, wireless internet, full breakfast and business center; each room has a coffeemaker, hairdryer, iron and board, microwave and refrigerator. Durham Skyland Inn has already achieved a five star user rating from Yahoo! Travel.

“With nearly 1000 locations across the US and Canada, the Durham Skyland Inn Magnuson Hotel is a special point of pride for Magnuson Hotels. Magnuson Hotels is proud to serve the Wisens and have a presence in this colorful community,” stated Thomas R. Magnuson, Principal/CEO.

In addition to being powered by the world’s largest reservation system, Durham Skyland Inn Magnuson Hotel will receive complete brand representation in all major US and Canadian markets and market segments without the costs & requirements of franchise brand affiliation. Durham Skyland Inn Magnuson Hotel will be marketed as highly differentiated yet backed by the quality standards of the world’s largest independent hotel group.
